Background
The Beltane Public Engagement Network and Scotland’s Futures Forum will host two networking dinners for MSPs and university principals in the Scottish Parliament in the 2012/13 academic year. These dinners provide an informal space for MSPs and senior university managers to discuss issues relevant to Scotland’s future. The Parliament Fellowship has been established to explore these issues in more depth.
The Beltane Parliament Fellow will be based in the Parliament and expected to create and host a high quality engagement event with support from the Beltane Public Engagement Network and Scotland’s Futures Forum (http://www.scotlandfutureforum.org). The aim is to create an opportunity for further discussion and to build relationships between policymakers and academics. There is scope to choose the event format, including whether it is open to the public or by invitation only. The Fellowship equates to 1 day per week for 6 months, although there is flexibility.

These Fellowships are open to academics employed by Edinburgh Beltane Partners: the University of Edinburgh, Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh Napier University and Queen Margaret University.
