Heriot-Watt wins Guardian University Award 2017 for Social and Community Impact

Heriot-Watt University’s British Sign Language team has won the 2017 Guardian University Award for Social and Community Impact.

Led by Professor Graham Turner (a Beltane Fellow!), the team was instrumental in shaping and influencing new legislation focused on British Sign Language. The team’s work to promote the use of British Sign Language helped to achieve the British Language (Scotland) Act, which received Royal Assent in October 2015.
