The Ragged University has started a new project – the Ragged Library.
The Ragged University is an initiative which runs in Edinburgh and Manchester. It offers anybody access to expert knowledge, for free. This knowledge can be anything, from growing your own veg to astrophysics. Many Ragged events take place at the Peartree pub in Edinburgh.
The Ragged Library is a new opportunity for academic researchers to share their knowledge. Rather than speaking to a crowd, academics are being asked to recommend a book that they use regularly and/or which they believe everyone should be aware of. This book will then be purchased by a benefactor, and the book will be put in a social space – the Peartree pub – where anyone at all can read it.
If you would like to recommend a book for the Ragged Library, please email the following to info@raggeduniversity.com:
- Your name
- Your department and institution
- At least 50 words about the book
You will be told once someone has bought your book, and your suggestion will be acknowledged online.
