The open call for registrations for the NCCPE’s Engage 2018 conference went live yesterday. This is the UK’s national conference for higher education public engagement. This November, for the very first time, the conference is taking place in Edinburgh. We expect places to go very fast, so book your place quickly if you plan to attend!
Bursaries for UoE staff and students and linked organisations
£3,000 has been set aside centrally at the University of Edinburgh for bursaries to enable people and their non-academic partner organisations to attend. If you would like to be considered for a bursary, please email sarah.anderson@ed.ac.uk without delay with the following information (there is no form):
- Confirmation that you have tried all other funds available to you. (Ideally, an email trail supporting this would be good, but we’ll settle for a solid explanation. If you are a current UoE Beltane Fellow, we would ask you use any remaining Fellowship funds, if you have them.)
- An indication of how many time before you have been to the Engage conference. (We may prioritise people who’ve never had the chance to attend before.)
- If applicable, your role at the University of Edinburgh. (We would like to try and strike a balance between professional staff, academic staff and research students.)
- If you are from a non-academic partner organisation (e.g. charity, NGO), please tell us how you are already working with the University of Edinburgh. (The strength of the partnership and its future potential will be considered.)
The bursary will cover two days’ attendance at the conference (£385; £290 for students and community organisations). We are unlikely to be able to fund add-ons such as the conference dinner.
