PhD in an Hour is back – 6pm, Dec. 2nd, Royal Dick Bar, Summerhall!

One PhD student, one fascinating topic, one venue, one hour. Enjoy a drink while a PhD student shares his/her interesting findings and ground-breaking ideas.  With students from a wide range of subjects, there will be something to tempt everyone’s intellectual appetite.  Make a PhD a piece of cake.

The aim is to demystify the PhD process and make it accessible to all.  Every PhD, no matter how technical or academic it sounds, will be explained so complete beginners to the topic can enjoy learning about ground-breaking research and ideas.

This month we’re delighted to announce PhD student Steven Brown will be hosting:

Digital Music Piracy: Separating Fact from Fiction

Reflecting on a PhD titled ‘The Psychology of Music Piracy’, this discussion focuses on research into why people do or do not engage in music piracy. It also explores the wider impact of file-sharing on the music industry, with an emphasis on new music-listening practices, such as music-subscription services.

Created in partnership with and organised by the Just Festival. Attendance is free, but it is helpful if you can register.
