Beltane Breakfasts and Twilights are informal meetings where people from Edinburgh’s universities, and people who want to work with them, can come to find out more and share information about specific public engagement topics. At this Beltane Twilight, we’ll be hearing and discussing the thoughts of Thomas Bak on the similarities between public engagement and teaching.
Thomas is Reader in Psychology at the University of Edinburgh, specialising in the relationships between language, the mind and the brain. Thomas is also an enthusiastic teacher and public engagement professional, with a particular forté in flyering his shows at the Edinburgh Fringe!
In June 2017, Thomas wrote a blog post for the University of Edinburgh’s Teaching Matters about the similarities between teaching and public engagement with research. A year on, Thomas is reflecting on this topic once again. Come and hear his thoughts, share your own, and ask questions!

Accessing the venue
The venue can be accessed directly from Holyrood Road by walking through Paterson’s Land quad. Alternatively, you can enter through the courtyard off St John’s Road.
