The Festival of Physics is a celebration of the wonder of science, the power of curiosity and the inventions and discoveries that shape our world and our future. Join the Institute of Physics from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th October at Dynamic Earth for a packed three-day programme of scintillating science shows, hands-on workshops and inspiring experiences, plus creative conversations from the domains of music, theatre and art alongside talks and lectures for all ages.

From the edge of the universe to the heart of the atom, from spacetime to stardust, come play with us.

Festival of Physics 2018 @ Dynamic Earth
Oct 26 all-day

Following the success of last year’s inaugural festival, the Institute of Physics is now accepting event applications for the 2018 Scottish Festival of Physics.

The festival will take place from Friday 26th October – Sunday 28th October inclusive at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh.

The event will be a celebration of the role that physics plays in our world and beyond, with an emphasis on cross-disciplinary content that demonstrates the intersections of physics with other sciences and forms of culture – not only physicists need apply. If you have an interesting event, we’d love to hear from you.

The programme will include an adult event strand alongside teen, family and early years offerings, so  we are seeking inspiring and interactive content in the form of workshops, shows, talks, debates, games and art for a range of ages.

This year, the theme of the festival is Time. We would be keen to encourage submissions of content that explores or is related to this theme, although it is not prohibitive.
