Getting Started – For Researchers

Our ethos at Beltane is Meet, Learn, Try, Reflect, Share and Recognise.

If you’re new to Public Engagement we think the best place to start is to come along to one of our Events. You’ll receive practical information about getting started in Public Engagement, meet people in the Beltane Network who can help you with your initiatives, and be inspired by others’ experiences of Public Engagement.

In the Resources section of this website you’ll find lots of practical information to help you get started in Public Engagement. Look at our Case Studies and read about other researchers’ experiences, successes and lessons learned.
Find a Useful Contact to help you with your initiatives, or browse our Resources Toolkit to find practical guides on all aspects of Public Engagement: Honing your presentation skills, Organising events, Making the most of new media, Securing funding and lots more.

You can also watch out for Development Opportunities to find a suitable training course.

In our Opportunities section you will find information on a wide range of existing Public Engagement Projects that researchers can get involved in. It’s is a great way to try out some public engagement activities before embarking on your own project.

Or find out about becoming a Beltane Fellow – we run a Fellowship programme where researchers can spend dedicated time at the Beltane offices to work on Public Engagement initiatives, with support from the core Beltane team.
