One PhD student, one fascinating topic, one café, one hour
On the first Tuesday of the month, PhD in an Hour speakers share their PhD research with a non-specialist audience over a drink. The events are an ideal way to dip your toe in the waters of public engagement; they’re great viva practice, too.
The aim of the events are to demystify the PhD process and make it accessible to all. No matter how technical your PhD is, you need to come prepared to explain it to complete beginners. Although the events are the brainchild of the Just Festival, speakers from absolutely any subject are welcome.
Events take place in a central Edinburgh café or bar, so the atmosphere is informal. For the foreseeable future, the venue will be The Royal Dick bar, Summerhall, 1 Summerhall, Edinburgh EH9 1PL.
